The band's comments about the songs on "Via Copenhagen":

  • Star
The first single, released in October 1999. The most pop oriented song we ever wrote. Jens plays acoustic guitar and had huge problems getting it right. Actually, he's still not happy with the result. In the lyrics we mention our studio, the Blue Motel, as the place "where playboys go, the choice of quality and style". When we were in Sundsvall recording the song, Linnéa (who's singing the chorus) came down with a severe cold. She had fever, a sore throat and was generally miserable. We kept delaying her vocal performance all week hoping she'd get better. One day, after a well deserved lunch break, we heard the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" in the limo cab on our way back to the studio and we all sang along. Suddenly Linnéa's voice was as clear as ever. When we returned, Linnéa rushed into the singing booth and nailed the chorus. Five minutes later she was just as miserable again...
  • Yippee-I
The single that never was released, even though it was pressed and ready to go. It's about a seducer, Linnéa, who's trying to lure a naïve girl, Sofia, into less than safe activities. "Yippee-I, we'll make you happier than ever". Sofia's country influences and Jörgen's fascination with Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone are quite evident in the song.
  • Some Kind Of God
Jörgen had the background of the song finished for quite a long time. It was a favourite that we never really dared touching in fear of destroying it. Jörgen said that he actually cried while he was programming the strings. But one evening in December 1999 we wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals in Michael Ellgren's studio in Lidköping. The resulting demo version is the one you hear on the cd, as the song was lost after the recording. This is the only existing version. The song deals with the first period of time after falling in love. The first verse is when you make sure everything is perfect, the second verse is when the relationship starts feeling too serious - do you really want it to continue? We are very pleased with the result. "Some Kind Of God" is one of the songs we've dared touching. We've got plenty more lying around, just waiting for the right moment, the moment when the mood fits the song...
  • In This Cold
This song is about the choking feeling of a small town and the strong urge to break free from that environment and accomplish something. Jens wrote most of the lyrics during the 5 hour busride between Stockholm and Lidköping one rainy November day. It wasn't a very uplifting journey... We wrote this song when our deal with Virgin went belly up in the summer of 1997.
  • Not Exactly
Was first called "Know Exactly" and featured a slightly harder edge to the lyrics where Linnéa and Sofia sang "Know exactly what I want to, I should leave you laying bleeding". We were in a vengeful mood at the time, but later on that feeling went away and we changed the lyrics to make it a little more gentle. This one is also about being in a relationship, but not knowing in which direction you want it to go. You can always pretend that it's easy to go your separate ways. "Not Exactly" is our third single.
  • My Love Has Got A Gun
The samba piano wasn't featured on the original demo, but our dance crazy producer Eric S added it during mixing. It really enhanced the joyful mood we were in when we wrote the song and we are very pleased with the result. The song is basically about love on the Internet. This one was our second single.
